Resort 2008: Miu Miu & YSL

Miu Miu has been known as the kid sister of Prada, since its inception in 1992, and with its recent resort collection, Miuccia shows that to be evident. The retro debutante, soph-hop offerings were spunky and youthful in its 1950's Sadie Hawkins dance feel. With ankle socks, sandals and prom-esque cocktail dresses, Miu Miu catered to the young set looking for a more quirky take on the gold hoops and caftans of resorts past. Essentially a youthful collection, it was by no means immature. Continuing the affair with satin, Miu Miu showed smart high waisted trousers, a standout printed trench coat, stellar retro platforms and of course the essential party dress.

Stefano Pilati for YSL showed a cool resort collection that will fill any summer wardrobe and with a multitude of interchangeable pieces and will take us through the entire warm weather season. With to-die-for paint splattered skirts and dresses, bomber jackets and pencil skirts and the obligatory maxi-flowing summer dresses, YSL hands us an option worthy collection full of wardrobe staples and the occasional dress to paint the town in.

Pilati has done wonders for YSL in my opinion and each new collection gets better. I love this resort vignette especially the prints he has decided to use. He brings an ease to Laurent that tom ford never had.
